Cause marketing as an advertising tool

Cause marketing or affiliate marketing are seen almost every time we enter a grocery store. We are inundated with pink packages and little cut-out sneakers on our weekly shopping trips.  But, what does it all really mean. In a nut shell, a company is pairing up with a charity or other not-for-profit organization to help promote the organization’s cause.

But, let’s break that down and delve a little deeper.

The good

A lot of not-for-profits, or organizations in general, do not have the means to do a mass campaign to fundraise or raise awareness. So when given the opportunity that another company is willing to spread the word and spend the money, who would say no?

Social gaming succeeds through virtual goods

Why did I play?

Per force of an assignment, I had to give in to something most people enjoy doing on a daily basis – playing a game on Facebook. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes I do indulge in a game or two of Bejeweled Blitz, but spend money on it? That's definitely not on my top 10 list of purchases.

However, I bit the bullet and I did it. But not on Bejeweled Blitz, I decided to go to the second most popular game on Facebook – Farmville.
